Amie (She/Her) is a Registered Social Worker (RSW), Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) holding a Masters Degree in Social Work from UBC. She is specialized in treating complex trauma and experiences related to adverse childhood events including childhood neglect and abuse. Common challenges such as relationship struggles, burnout, low mood, feelings of insecurity and fears of abandonment are also routine in her work. Amie enjoys working in public healthcare as well as private practice and tends to see many physicians, residents and medical students through word of mouth referrals but also a wide range of folks from single parents to indigenous youth in her hometown of Vancouver, BC (the unceded territories of the Squamish, Musquem and Tsleil-Waututh Nations).
Modalities used depend on her clients' needs and goals. These include dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), eye-movement reprocessing and desensitization therapy (EMDR), emotion focused family therapy (EFFT) and other attachment-based modalities. Included in her approach, is a strong commitment to involving families and caregivers in the treatment process whenever possible. When she’s not working, Amie can often be found trail running or cycling in the North Shore mountains.
