When left unprocessed, traumatic events and negative experiences can impact our present moment and relationships with others in significant ways. Negative beliefs about yourself, emotions and intense physical sensations resulting from adverse events can be overwhelming. Getting help can reduce these negative impacts and allow you to regain a sense of safety and control over how you manage your day to day respond to life's stressors.
Gaining skills in distress tolerance and emotion regulation are the first steps in addressing past trauma. Once we build you up in these skills AND you feel ready, we can support you with memory processing through Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing.
Most of our therapists have long histories working with individuals who have come from adversity where there may have been abuse or neglect, intergenerational trauma, histories of genocide and colonial oppression. We support individuals with complex trauma stemming from childhood as well as those who may have experienced a traumatic event later in adulthood.
